Zonse Point is Malawi's soon-to-launch online marketplace for buying and selling goods and tickets, built to make peer-to-peer commerce safe by default rather than something buyers and sellers have to negotiate on trust alone. Every purchase will be protected by escrow: a buyer's payment will be held by Zonse Point until they confirm delivery, and only then released to the seller, with a clear dispute process if something goes wrong along the way. Sellers who want to list products will go through an automated identity verification step before they can sell, so buyers can transact with a verified real person rather than an anonymous account. Beyond one-off purchases, Zonse Point will offer layby and store-credit accounts so buyers can pay for higher-value items over time, and an events feature where organisers can list and sell tickets with the same payment and refund protections. The platform has been built for web and native iOS and Android apps, with real-time chat between buyers and sellers, seller analytics and promoted listings, and an AI-assisted support layer backed by a human review team for anything it can't resolve on its own.
